We begin our motorbike adventure on the outskirts of the bustling city, where our trusted machines and the open road await. After a hearty breakfast and a thorough briefing on the days ahead, we set off, following the western edge of Hanoi along the winding Red River. The well-paved roads make for an easy, enjoyable start to the journey.

Our first major stop is the stunning Thac Ba Lake, one of the region’s true natural gems. From here, the ride grows more adventurous as we climb a rugged trail leading to the charming Vu Linh village. Resting peacefully along the lakeshore, Vu Linh is home to the Dzao community, offering rich cultural encounters and genuine hospitality.

The warm welcome of the Dzao people greets us as we settle into a cozy homestay for our first night. It marks the beginning of an extraordinary voyage through northern Vietnam, where every bend in the road reveals the authentic beauty and spirit of this remarkable region.

By late morning, we pause for lunch and enjoy the rich, authentic flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.

Upon arriving in Sapa, we check into our accommodation before heading out to explore. In the afternoon, we continue on to Xin Man, a hidden treasure tucked deep within Northern Vietnam’s rugged mountains. Upon arriving in Xin Man, we check into our accommodation, with the rest of the evening free for you to wander town or simply relax and recharge.

Soon after, we put our riding skills to work as we navigate a series of challenging mountain passes, breaking for a satisfying lunch in Hoang Su Phi.

The afternoon brings one of the most exciting segments of our journey—a 40-kilometer off-road ride through dense jungle terrain as we push toward the Tay Con Linh mountain range. This trail stands out as one of the most stunning and adventurous routes of our entire Vietnam motorbike tour.

After conquering the off-road section, we merge back onto the main road for a smoother 20-kilometer ride toward Ha Giang, reconnecting with Road 2. If time allows, we may stop by Ha Thanh Waterfall for a refreshing visit. The day winds down as we check into our hotel, resting up for the incredible adventures that await.

We pause for a short break at a viewpoint café, where a quick climb rewards us with sweeping views over the Quang Ba valley. Lunch awaits in Yen Minh before we head to the ancient village of Pho Bang, known for its traditional clay-brick houses that stand as quiet witnesses to the past. Our journey continues with a visit to the Vuong Palace, an architectural gem blending Chinese and French influences, once home to the powerful H’mong royal family.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Dong Van and check into our hotel, settling in for a restful night before the next day’s adventures unfold.

It’s a surreal panorama that captures the true spirit of exploration and the raw beauty of the northern frontier.

Our final stop for the day is Bao Lac, a remote town where a mosaic of ethnic cultures meets. Known for its lively Sunday market, Bao Lac serves as a vibrant hub where groups from both sides of the border gather to trade, socialize, and share traditions.

As evening settles in, we check into our hotel, relaxing and recharging for the remarkable adventures that still lie ahead.

Throughout the day, we’ll take plenty of breaks to rest, refuel, and soak in the views. Altogether, the ride will take around six hours, including stops for meals and refreshments.

After this action-packed ride, we slow the pace with a peaceful boat trip on Ba Be Lake—Vietnam’s largest freshwater lake. Here, you can swim, unwind, and enjoy the serene natural surroundings. Our day ends at Ba Be Lake View Homestay, where we gather for a delicious Tay-style dinner, complete with the local rice wine known fondly as “happy water.” Tonight, we settle into traditional stilt-house accommodations for an authentic and memorable stay.

Our ride takes us along a combination of curving mountain roads and rugged off-road stretches, giving us the chance to admire sweeping landscapes while putting our riding abilities to the test.

The day’s highlight is Ban Gioc Waterfall—one of Vietnam’s greatest natural spectacles. As we draw closer, the powerful roar of cascading water surrounded by vibrant greenery creates an unforgettable first impression. You’ll have plenty of time to wander the area, soak in the scenery, and capture stunning photos.

Along the way, we travel across a mix of terrain—from sweeping mountain roads to smooth, well-maintained stretches—each revealing a new layer of the countryside’s charm.

We’ll pause at scenic viewpoints and local villages, giving you time to admire the breathtaking vistas, take photos, and interact with the communities that call this region home.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Bac Son and check in to our accommodations. Surrounded by lush rice fields and peaceful valley views, Bac Son provides an ideal place to unwind and reflect after another rewarding day on the road.

Halong Bay captivates with its emerald-green waters, towering limestone karsts, and countless jungle-covered islets—an iconic natural wonder where the scenery feels limitless.

The remainder of the day is devoted to experiencing the bay’s serene beauty. Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
