Day 1: (22nd Apr, 2026) HANOI – MAI CHAU (170 KM / APPROX. 4 HOURS) (L/D)
Leaving behind Hanoi’s restless hum, we ride north toward open skies and mountain air. The road traces the calm edge of Hong Son Lake, where emerald waters mirror limestone peaks and tiny forested islands drift in the haze. The ride feels easy, the wind cool, the noise of the city already fading behind.
By afternoon, the valley of Mai Chau opens before us — quiet, green, and glowing in soft light. Wooden stilt houses rise above golden paddies, and children wave as we pass, laughter carrying through the hills.
As evening falls, dinner awaits under warm lanterns, followed by the graceful rhythm of a Thai dance — a story told in movement and music. The night ends in a cozy stilt house, crickets humming outside, peace settling in like a long exhale.
Day 2: (23rd Apr, 2026) MAI CHAU – PHU YEN (250 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Day 2: (23rd Apr, 2026) MAI CHAU – PHU YEN (250 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)

After breakfast at our warm stilt-house homestay, we wave goodbye to the kind villagers of Mai Chau and ride toward the highlands of Moc Chau. The road winds through misty hills and quiet valleys, where the scent of tea leaves drifts through the cool morning air. Known for its lush plantations, Moc Chau invites us to pause — a perfect place to taste and take home Vietnam’s finest green tea. Around town, the colors of the Green H’mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong communities bring life to every corner.

After lunch, we follow the quiet Road 43, its curves leading us deeper into the mountains. The Da River glimmers below as we cross the Van Yen ferry, a slow glide across still water framed by limestone cliffs. Beyond, the road narrows and bends through endless greenery until Phu Yen appears — peaceful, small, and full of mountain charm. We end the day in a simple local homestay, where warmth is found not in comfort, but in kindness.

Day 3: (24th Apr, 2026) PHU YEN – NGHIA LO (160 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Day 3: (24th Apr, 2026) PHU YEN – NGHIA LO (160 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Morning light spills across the mountains as we leave Phu Yen and head north toward Lung Lo Pass — a stretch of road carved with history and courage. Once a vital lifeline during the First Indochina War, this 15-kilometer pass carried supplies and hope to the front lines of the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The French bombed it relentlessly, yet it endured — a testament to Vietnam’s unbreakable spirit.
Today, Lung Lo stands quiet but proud, its curves winding through layers of mist and pine. The ride is thrilling — steep climbs, sweeping turns, and moments where the mountains seem to breathe around us. From every ridge, views unfold like watercolor: terraced hills, rivers glinting far below, and villages resting in green valleys.
By late afternoon, we roll into Nghia Lo, the heart of Yen Bai Province. The day’s dust settles, replaced by calm. A warm meal, a soft bed, and the hum of distant crickets — a gentle reward after a road rich with memory.
Day 4: (25th Apr, 2026) NGHIA LO – MU CANG CHAI (130 KM / APPROX. 4 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Day 4: (25th Apr, 2026) NGHIA LO – MU CANG CHAI (130 KM / APPROX. 4 HOURS) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we leave Nghia Lo and ride deeper into the mountains, where the air grows cooler and the hills roll endlessly toward the sky. The road weaves through tea plantations shimmering in morning light, their scent crisp and earthy in the wind. Ahead lies Khau Pha Pass — one of Northern Vietnam’s four great mountain passes — a ribbon of asphalt coiling through clouds. Each curve reveals a view more breathtaking than the last: valleys blanketed in mist, ridges glowing gold beneath the sun.
We pause in Tu Le, a quiet valley resting at the pass’s foot, where rice terraces gleam like mirrors of light. By afternoon, we reach Mu Cang Chai — a land sculpted by hand and time. Terraced fields cascade down the mountainsides, the work of generations of Hmong farmers who live in harmony with the land.
As dusk settles, we find warmth in a Thai homestay — wood creaking softly, laughter rising from the kitchen. Outside, the mountains fade into shadow, and peace feels close enough to touch.
Day 5: (26th Apr, 2026) MU CANG CHAI – SAPA (160 KM / APPROX. 5 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Day 5: (26th Apr, 2026) MU CANG CHAI – SAPA (160 KM / APPROX. 5 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Morning mist drifts over Mu Cang Chai as we set out toward Quy Ho Pass — a road that climbs into the clouds and never seems to end. The air cools, the scent of tea and earth fills our lungs, and the mountains unfold in waves of green and silver. Winding through hills draped in corn and rice, each turn feels like a dance between thrill and stillness, challenge and wonder.
By midday, we descend toward Sapa — a town perched high in the northern sky. The old Stone Church stands in the heart of it all, its weathered walls glowing softly beneath the mountain light. Around it, life flows in color and rhythm: Hmong and Dao women trading handwoven fabrics, the laughter of children echoing through narrow streets, the aroma of grilled corn curling through the air.
As night falls, we rest in a humble homestay tucked among the hills. The fire crackles, the stars shimmer above, and for a quiet moment, it feels as if the mountains themselves are breathing beside us.
Day 6: (27th Apr, 2026) SAPA – RELAXATION DAY (B/L/D)
Day 6: (27th Apr, 2026) SAPA – RELAXATION DAY (B/L/D)
The day begins gently — breakfast by the window as morning mist drifts across Sapa’s peaks. Soon, we ride out into the valleys, the road curling through clouds and terraced hills. Villages like Cat Cat and Ta Phin appear like quiet brushstrokes on the landscape, their wooden houses framed by fields of maize and rice. Here, time slows: women weave indigo cloth, smoke rises from stone hearths, and children’s laughter drifts through the cool air.
At midday, we pause for lunch at a local restaurant, savoring the mountain’s flavors — fragrant herbs, sticky rice, and slow-cooked pork. The afternoon invites choice: explore nearby trails, wander through local markets, or simply unwind at a spa, letting the mountain breeze and stillness restore your spirit.
As night falls, lanterns flicker across the town. Dinner is shared among friends, the sound of soft chatter mingling with the hum of the hills. Under Sapa’s starlit sky, the day closes like a quiet sigh — full, peaceful, and unforgettable.
Day 7: (28th Apr, 2026) SAPA – VU LINH (230 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)
Day 7: (28th Apr, 2026) SAPA – VU LINH (230 KM / APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, throttle out of Sapa and descend toward Lao Cai City, where misty mountains give way to the rhythmic flow of the Nam Thi River — marking the edge of the Vietnam–China border. A quick coffee by the riverside fuels the ride ahead as you weave through palm-lined valleys and quiet rural scenes of Luc Yen. By noon, the road opens to Vu Linh village, resting on the shimmering shores of Thac Ba Lake — Vietnam’s largest man-made lake, a sprawling maze of 1,331 emerald islets.

After lunch, glide across its mirror-like waters by boat, dive in for a refreshing swim, or drift past floating homes of the Dao people, whose calm rhythm of life follows the lake’s gentle tide. This is the soul of Northern Vietnam — untamed, peaceful, and endlessly captivating.

Day 8: (29th Apr, 2026) VU LINH – HANOI (180 KM / APPROX. 5 HOURS) (B/L)
Day 8: (29th Apr, 2026) VU LINH – HANOI (180 KM / APPROX. 5 HOURS) (B/L)

After breakfast, we ride southeast along Highway 2, leaving the cool mountains behind for the soft light of the lowlands. The road follows the Red River’s winding edge, its waters shimmering bronze in the morning sun. Here, the great river meets the Black River, their currents blending before flowing onward to Hanoi — a quiet symbol of journey and return.

As we descend into the delta plains, the land flattens and widens. Rice fields stretch endlessly to the horizon, dotted with farmers in conical hats and buffalo grazing under the heat. Crossing the Black River by bridge, we pass through Son Tay — a town where traces of Vietnam’s past linger in the slow rhythm of daily life.

By late afternoon, the skyline of Hanoi appears in the distance. Traffic thickens, the hum of the city grows familiar again. We ride the final miles with quiet smiles — dusted with the scent of the road, the memory of mountains still clinging to our minds. The journey ends, but its echo will follow us home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We've got answers! Find common queries about our adventure programs.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
