According to Article 3 of Decree No. 05/VBHN-BGTVT stipulating the following conditions for foreign motor vehicles to enter traffic in Vietnam:
Article 3. Conditions for foreign motor vehicles to join traffic in Vietnam
- It must go through Vietnam's international travel agencies to carry out the procedures for requesting approval and organize the implementation. The maximum time allowed to participate in traffic in Vietnam is not more than 30 days. In case of force majeure (natural disaster, traffic accident, vehicle damage that cannot be repaired in Vietnam), the vehicle is allowed to stay in Vietnam for no more than 10 days.
- Having the written approval of the Ministry of Transport.
- Conditions for vehicles:
- a) Under the ownership of foreign organizations and individuals, registered in foreign countries and attached with foreign number plates;
- b) Have a valid vehicle registration certificate issued by the competent authority of the country where the vehicle is registered;
Bringing motor vehicles by foreign tourists into Vietnam must meet a number of conditions of Vietnamese law and be exempt from import and export tax when bringing this vehicle into the Vietnamese territory.
