Our thrilling motorcycle expedition kicks off on the outskirts of the vibrant city, where we'll collect our bikes. Following a comprehensive briefing on the North Vietnam motorbike tour and a delightful breakfast, we set out on our journey. Riding along the western fringes of the city, we follow the course of the majestic Red River. The roads are tailor-made for motorbike exploration, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.

Our first destination is the breathtaking Thac Ba Lake, a natural marvel. From there, we traverse a rugged trail leading to the enchanting Vu Linh village. Nestled by the lakeside, Vu Linh is the home of the Dzao indigenous people, adding an authentic cultural dimension to our adventure.

The welcoming hospitality of the Dzao community embraces us as we settle into their homestay for the night. This marks the commencement of our unforgettable expedition through northern Vietnam, where each twist and turn in the road unveils the true charm of this captivating region. Overnight, we'll enjoy the cozy hospitality of the Dzao ethnic people at their homestay, adding a warm and cultural touch to our journey.

Day 2: (6th Oct, 2025) VU LINH – HA GIANG (APPROX 190 KM) (B/L/D)

As the morning sun casts its golden glow, we reluctantly leave the warm embrace of Vu Linh behind. Our journey unfolds, guiding us through a tapestry of breathtaking landscapes and meandering roads toward the enchanting destination of Ha Giang. Along the way, the road unveils poetic streams, creating a serene backdrop to our thrilling motorbike adventure.

Our route takes us through quaint villages, providing glimpses into the daily rhythms of local life. The highlight of the day awaits as we navigate the thrilling monkey bridge, an exhilarating experience that adds a touch of adventure to our exploration. This day is not just about the destination; it's about embracing the journey, and each twist of the road brings new surprises.

Amidst the journey, we pause at hidden gems, taking in the beauty of the northern Vietnamese countryside. The landscapes transform as we approach Ha Giang, revealing the unique charm of this mountainous region.

Upon arriving in Ha Giang, our accommodations for the night await in the heart of Hmong culture - a homestay that promises an immersive experience. Day 3: (7th Oct, 2025) HA GIANG – DONG VAN (APPROX 155 KM) (B/L/D)

Embarking on the third day of our motorbike odyssey, we set out from Ha Giang, ready to conquer the winding roads that lead to Dong Van. The journey is punctuated by the exhilarating ride through Tham Ma Pass, where the wind whispers through the mountains, creating a symphony of nature that accompanies our ascent.

As we wind through Tham Ma Pass, the breathtaking vistas unfold, offering panoramic views of the rugged landscapes that define this region. The road becomes a dance between motorbike and terrain, each turn revealing a new facet of the Northern Vietnamese charm.

Our destination, Dong Van, beckons with its unique blend of history and culture. Upon arrival, we'll settle into the comfort of a local hotel, where we can rejuvenate and reflect on the day's adventures. Day 4: (8th Oct, 2025) DONG VAN – MEO VAC - BAO LAC (APPROX 135 KM) (B/L/D)

The fourth day of our exhilarating motorbike expedition leads us from Dong Van to Meo Vac and ultimately to Bao Lac, promising a day filled with thrilling landscapes and cultural encounters.

Our journey begins with a breathtaking highlight – the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass. As we navigate this iconic pass, perched atop towering cliffs, the sweeping views of the jagged mountains and the serpentine Nho Que River below create a visual spectacle that will be etched in our memories.

The adventure doesn't stop there. Today, we put our riding skills to the test on a challenging single track along the Nho Que River. This exhilarating section offers an adrenaline-pumping experience, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Northern Vietnamese countryside.

Adding a touch of tranquility, we'll take a pause to savor lunch in Meo Vac, immersing ourselves in the local flavors. Afterward, our journey continues with a unique experience – a bamboo raft ride on the meandering Nho Que River. Drifting along the water, we soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscapes, creating memories that resonate with the essence of this remarkable region.

As the day unfolds, we reach Bao Lac, where our overnight stay awaits in a local hotel. Surrounded by the tales of the day's adventures, we anticipate the comfort of the night, knowing that tomorrow holds new roads and fresh discoveries on our Northern Vietnam motorbike adventure.

Day 5: (9th Oct, 2025) BAO LAC - BA BE LAKE (APPROX 120 KM) (B/L/D)

Today's adventure takes us on a thrilling blend of rugged terrain, with stretches of broken road and off-road challenges. We'll navigate river crossings and conquer several mountain passes, continuously testing our riding skills along meandering routes. Don't worry; we'll make plenty of stops to take in the stunning scenery and refuel. In total, expect about 6 hours of riding, inclusive of breaks for meals and refreshments.

After this exhilarating day, we reward ourselves with a serene boat trip around Ba Be Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Vietnam. Here, we can swim, relax, and revel in the natural beauty. Our journey continues to Ba Be Lake View Homestay, where we'll savor a dinner of traditional Tay cuisine, complete with rice wine (often known as 'happy water'). The night's accommodations are in traditional stilt houses, offering an authentic and immersive experience.

Day 6: (10th Oct, 2025) BA BE - HANOI (APPROX 220 KM) (B/L)

On the final leg of our extraordinary motorbike adventure, we bid farewell to the serene beauty of Ba Be Lake. The morning air carries with it a sense of reflection as we embark on the journey back to Hanoi.

Our route takes us through the scenic landscapes of Northern Vietnam, retracing the roads we've conquered over the past days. The winding paths and picturesque views serve as a visual tapestry, encapsulating the memories and experiences of our unforgettable expedition.

As we approach Hanoi, the bustling energy of the city gradually replaces the tranquility of the countryside. Riding through the outskirts, we weave through the familiar streets, each turn resonating with the echoes of our northern exploration.

Anticipating our arrival, we reach Hanoi around 4 pm, completing the circle of our motorbike adventure. The journey may be coming to an end, but the memories of the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and winding roads will linger as a testament to the richness of Northern Vietnam.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.

March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.

May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.

September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.

December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
