Itinerary

Day 1: (13th Oct, 2025) HANOI – MAI CHAU (170 KM/APPROX. 4 HOURS) (L/D)

Leaving behind the lively streets of Hanoi, we journey northward, guided by the serene presence of Hong Son Lake. The scenery unfolds like a masterpiece, with clusters of islands framed by verdant forests and majestic limestone peaks. Traveling along smooth, well-paved roads, we encounter an ever-changing panorama of breathtaking vistas. By afternoon, we arrive in the picturesque valley of Mai Chau, where there’s time to wander and soak in the charm of the surroundings. As evening falls, we enjoy a delightful dinner, followed by an enchanting traditional Thai dance performance—a true cultural highlight. The night is spent in the welcoming embrace of Thai stilt houses, offering a cozy and authentic experience.

Day 2: (14th Oct, 2025) MAI CHAU – PHU YEN (250 KM/APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)

After a hearty breakfast at the warm and welcoming homestay, we bid farewell to the gracious villagers of Mai Chau and set out for the scenic highland town of Moc Chau. Here, we pause for a satisfying lunch break. Famous for producing some of Vietnam's finest tea, Moc Chau offers the perfect chance to pick up this local specialty. The town is also a cultural mosaic, home to diverse ethnic communities, including the Green H'mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong people. Following lunch, our journey takes us onto the quieter Road 43, leading to the tranquil Da River, where we cross the reservoir via the Van Yen ferry. The route continues along a winding secondary road, revealing spectacular mountain vistas, before bringing us to the charming town of Phu Yen in Son La Province, nestled in Vietnam’s Northwestern region. Our day concludes with a stay in a humble yet cozy homestay, offering an authentic taste of local life.

Day 3: (15th Oct, 2025) PHU YEN – NGHIA LO (160 KM/APPROX. 6 HOURS) (B/L/D)

In the morning, we continue our adventure by traversing the remarkable Lung Lo Pass before climbing along the scenic Road 32. Spanning over 15 kilometers, Lung Lo Pass holds deep historical significance from the First Indochina War. It played a pivotal role for Vietnamese resistance forces, serving as a vital supply route for weapons, goods, and provisions during the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign of 1954. Despite enduring relentless bombardment by French forces attempting to disrupt these efforts, the pass remains a symbol of resilience and determination. Nestled in Yen Bai Province, Lung Lo Pass is now recognized as a national heritage site. While the ride through its rugged terrain offers a challenge, the breathtaking rewards of the journey make it unforgettable. By evening, we reach our destination, where we unwind and enjoy a restful night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 4: (16th Oct, 2025) NGHIA LO – MU CANG CHAI (130KM/APPROX. 4 HOURS) (B/L/D)

After a hearty breakfast, we depart from Nghia Lo and journey towards the enchanting Mu Cang Chai, traversing awe-inspiring mountainous terrain. The landscape gradually shifts, revealing rolling hills adorned with lush green tea plantations, while towering mountains beckon in the distance. Our route takes us across the legendary Khau Pha Pass, one of Northern Vietnam’s four greatest mountain passes, offering breathtaking views and countless photo opportunities. Along the way, we pass through Tu Le, a picturesque valley nestled at the base of the pass, where nature’s beauty seems boundless. A full day is dedicated to exploring Mu Cang Chai, celebrated for its iconic terraced rice fields, a recognized national heritage site. This mountainous district is also home to the Hmong minority, renowned for their traditional lifestyle, vibrant ethnic clothing, and rich cultural heritage—a paradise for photography enthusiasts. After breakfast, we set off from Sapa, journeying towards Lao Cai City. Along the way, we pause for a refreshing coffee break by the Nam Thi River, offering views of the Vietnam-China border. Our route winds through verdant palm forests and the peaceful landscapes of Luc Yen, eventually leading us to Vu Linh village by the serene Thac Ba Lake, Vietnam's largest man-made lake. Spanning an impressive 23,400 hectares with 1,331 islands, Thac Ba Lake enchants visitors with its crystal-clear blue waters that mirror the surrounding ancient forests. After a delicious lunch, we embark on a boat ride, where opportunities for swimming and exploring abound. Discover the unique lifestyle of the Dao community living among the lake's islands, marvel at their skillful boat navigation, and soak in the tranquil beauty of this remarkable region.

Day 8: (20th Oct, 2025) VU LINH - HANOI (180KM/ APPROX. 5 HOURS) (B/L)

After breakfast, we head southeast on Highway 2, making our way toward the serene town of Phu Tho. Riding along the river dyke, we follow the edge of the Red River, where it meets the Black River, their waters merging before flowing together towards Hanoi. Entering the lowlands of the delta plains, we find ourselves amidst the fertile agricultural heartland of northern Vietnam. Crossing a bridge over the Black River, our journey continues through the historic town of Son Tay before connecting to the highway leading back to Hanoi. We aim to return before the rush-hour hustle at 4 PM, skillfully navigating the increasing traffic as the city comes alive in the late afternoon.
