Overview

Experience an exceptional 8-day Vietnam motorcycle adventure that kicks off with a unique overnight train journey from Hanoi to Lao Cai. From there, ride through the captivating landscapes of Sapa, with its stunning terraced rice fields and vibrant ethnic communities. Traverse rugged mountain passes to Xin Man and Ha Giang, stopping at colorful local markets, ancient Hmong villages, and historical landmarks like the Hmong King’s palace. Conquer the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, enjoy the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfall, and unwind at the serene Ba Be Lake before returning to Hanoi. This trip blends thrilling rides with authentic cultural encounters and spectacular natural wonders, making it a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: (11th June) LAO CAI - SAPA (50 Km) (B/L/D) (B/L/D)

At about 9h30pm the evening before, we’ll take the night train 4 bed soft sleeper cabin to Lao Cai. We arrive at Lao Cai station about 6am. After breakfast, We begin our trip in the center of Lao Cai, which is next to the international border with China, where important trading in North happens – Have a short break at border, before we head to Sapa town, famous for its stunning terraced rice fields, cool climate, and rich cultural diversity. On the way, we will pass through winding roads surrounded by lush landscapes, stopping at scenic viewpoints for photos and to admire the beautiful mountain vistas. Overnight at the hotel in Sapa.

Day 2: (12th June) SAPA – XI MAN ( 150 KM) (B/L/D) (B/L/D)

After breakfast in Sapa, we’ll gear up and depart for Xin Man, a remote district in Ha Giang province known for its rugged mountain scenery and ethnic diversity. The road from Sapa to Xin Man is challenging but breathtaking, with steep passes, winding roads, and panoramic views of terraced fields and verdant valleys.
We’ll first head towards Bac Ha, a peaceful town famous for its colorful ethnic markets and ancient Hmong King’s palace. On the way, we’ll ride through picturesque villages inhabited by the Hmong and Dao people, with opportunities to stop for photos and interact with the locals.
After a break in Bac Ha for lunch, we’ll continue our journey through some of the most untouched and less-traveled areas of northern Vietnam. The road to Xin Man offers an exciting adventure with its narrow, winding paths and ever-changing landscape. As we approach Xin Man, we’ll be greeted by a tranquil atmosphere, with a small town surrounded by majestic mountains.

Day 3: (13th June) XI MAN – HA GIANG ( 150KM) (B/L/D)

When we finish eating our breakfast at a local restaurant nearby, we visit the local market, buy souvenirs, take pictures, and mix with the local ethnic minorities (Dzao, Flower H’mong, Nung, etc). Today, we will be testing (and sharpening) our riding skills as the roads that go through the mountain passes are challenging! We'll have lunch in Hoang Su Phi. After lunchtime, we’ll ride off road up to the top of Tay Con Linh mountain rage, this can be challenging yourself to ride about 40 km off road through the jungle without seeing any village , this will be the most beautiful trail in our Vietnam motor bike tour . In the afternoon, we get to the main road and heading 20 km to Ha Giang are far more relaxing and easy, as we rejoin Road 2. Depending on the time, we may even manage to enjoy and relax in the waterfall in Ha Thanh. We’ll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 4: (14th June) HA GIANG – DONG VAN ( 150KM) (B/L/D)

Today we continue our trip to Quang Ba, Dong Van, and Yen Minh regions. They are areas with amazing natural landscapes and views of unspoiled surroundings. People living here are used to working hard and long hours, and they always find a way out of problems of any sort, judging by the fact that they have managed to live on rocky farmlands. They are very outgoing and friendly people that do not seek much in life to be happy.
We have a quick break at an info coffee shop, and we could climb up some stairs, to get idyllic views of Quang Ba. We have lunch at Yen Minh, and then visit Pho Bang that was built hundreds of years ago and is home to multi-storey clay brick houses with tiled roofs. While in Quang Ba, we can also visit the Vuong Palace, where the high-rank H’mong family of Vietnam’s purported H’mong King (Vuong Chi Sinh) used to live during the French colonial ruling. It is a fine demonstrator of European-Chinese architecture and is a pole of attraction to all architecturally-minded visitors. Our last stop is at Dong Van, where we sleep overnight. We’ll spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: (15th June) DONG VAN – MEO VAC – BAO LAC ( 120KM) (B/L/D)

Today it's all about the journey. As you traverse the 21-km Mã Pí Lèng Pass you’ll see why this is declared the most spectacular stretch of road in all of Vietnam. Giant cone-shaped limestone mountains tower, with brilliant green-clad cliffs cascading into the steep river valleys below. Places like this are what travel dreams are made of. before we reach Bao Lac, where we stop for the day. Bao Lac is considered a great ethnic crossroad where ethnic groups of all Northeast Vietnam meet. The Sunday market is a great meeting point for many ethnic groups from both sides of the borders. We’ll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 6: (16th June) BAO LAC – BAN GIOC WATERFALL (220 KM) (B/L/D)

This morning we will visit a village of Lo Lo people, a small ethnic group living high up on the mountain who have preserved their original culture, including their colorful, intricate traditional clothing and wooden stilt houses. Next, continue on towards Bản Giốc, riding through beautiful countryside before reaching the resort at Ban Gioc. SLEEP: Resort at Bản Giốc

Day 7: (17th June) BAN GIOC WATERFALL - BA BE LAKE (180KM) (B/L/D)

Morning, visit Ban Gioc waterfall, the fourth largest national border waterfall in the world and sourced from Quây Sơn River. This peaceful river starts in China and carves its way through rugged karst mountains before cascading down a series of dramatic falls into Vietnam. Both Vietnam and China enjoy the benefits of this majestic natural wonder.
Next, take a short drive to a nearby pagoda before walking up to a viewpoint where you can see a panoramic view of the entire waterfall and over to China and the Quay Son River.
After that, explore nearby Nguom Ngao Cave, a 2,700-meter cave that was created over millions of years and today features beautiful, unique stalagmite and stalactite formations not found in other caves in Vietnam. Listen to the roaring sounds created by an underground stream running over the rocks below, and you’ll understand why the local Tay people named this Tiger Cave. Travel on to Ba Be Lake.
Day 8: (18th June) BA BE - HANOI (220KM) (B/L)

This is the last day of our journey, and we will be heading back to Hanoi. We have an amazing ride ahead today. We take the west side of Ba Be Lake and set out to the south. We go past the city of Thai Nguyen in the Northland; the city famous for the high-quality of its tea. Then, we take a break at Tow, to visit the impressive Vietnamese Ethnic Group Museum of Cultures and see the colorful exhibitions on display that reflect the lifestyle of the 50 tribes that reside in the hills of Vietnam.
Estimated Arrival at Hanoi: 5:00 P.M. Tour ends.
