A new journey begins in the morning as you are picked up from your hotel and transferred to the meeting point on the outskirts of Hanoi. From here, we prepare for the adventure ahead and ride away from the bustling city, following the Red River along fresh on-road routes that offer a smooth and scenic start to the trip.
Our first destination is the vast Thac Ba Lake, located in Yen Binh and Luc Yen districts of Yen Bai Province, approximately 130–160 km from Hanoi. Known as one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in Vietnam, Thac Ba Lake offers a peaceful and impressive natural landscape.
We continue to Vu Linh, a village that has preserved the long-standing traditions of the Dzao ethnic community—one of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, distinguished by its unique cultural identity. The local people are known for their warm hospitality, and our journey pauses for the night at a traditional homestay, where we will enjoy a special cultural performance and experience authentic local life.
Continuing our journey to conquer Northeast Vietnam on this motorbike tour, we enjoy breakfast at the homestay before setting off to explore new routes. Along the way, we cross the iconic monkey bridge—an exciting experience with a touch of challenge that offers an authentic glimpse into rural Vietnamese life.
The highlight everyone has been waiting for awaits us: the legendary Ha Giang Loop. This demanding route is famous for its endless hairpin turns and dramatic mountain passes, pushing both your balance and endurance to the limit. Reaching the high mountain viewpoints and taking in the reward after conquering these winding roads is an unforgettable feeling.
Our next stop is a local H’mong homestay, where we immerse ourselves in nature and the slow, simple rhythm of mountain life. Here, we rest, recharge, and prepare for another incredible day of riding ahead.
Approaching the border between Vietnam and China, one of the most impressive natural wonders bestowed by Mother Nature is Ban Gioc Waterfall. This multi-tiered waterfall complex is one of the most beautiful and majestic in the region. Along the way, the tour will include a visit to Thung Mountain, with its towering karst limestone formations. The full-day trip, filled with experiences, will include a stop at Sai Gon Ban Gioc Resort, located near the waterfall, where you can enjoy a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.
After breakfast at the resort, the journey to explore Northeast Vietnam continues with a visit to Nguom Ngao Cave, considered a vast limestone wonder with unique stalactite formations. Explore Ba Be Lake, located within the national park in Nam Mau commune, Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and among the top 20 most beautiful freshwater lakes in the world. The lake is surrounded by lush green cliffs. In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance by the local ethnic community, featuring folk songs and traditional dances of the Tay people. Rest at a homestay by Ba Be Lake to recharge for the final leg of the Northeast Vietnam journey.
On the final day, we will leave the peaceful shores of Ba Be and return to Hanoi. The scenery gradually changes from tranquil countryside to the bustling suburbs of the capital. Around 4 PM, we will complete our motorbike tour around Northern Vietnam, ending our adventure with unforgettable memories of mountain roads, ethnic cultures, and breathtaking natural beauty.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.
For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.
