From here, we prepare for the adventure ahead and ride away from the bustling city, following the Red River along fresh on-road routes that offer a smooth and scenic start to the trip.

Our first destination is the vast Thac Ba Lake, located in Yen Binh and Luc Yen districts of Yen Bai Province, approximately 130–160 km from Hanoi. Known as one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in Vietnam, Thac Ba Lake offers a peaceful and impressive natural landscape.

We continue to Vu Linh, a village that has preserved the long-standing traditions of the Dzao ethnic community—one of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, distinguished by its unique cultural identity. The local people are known for their warm hospitality, and our journey pauses for the night at a traditional homestay, where we will enjoy a special cultural performance and experience authentic local life.

Day 2: (13rd May ) VU LINH – HA GIANG (APPROX 170 KM) (B/L/D)

Continuing our journey to conquer Northeast Vietnam on this motorbike tour, we enjoy breakfast at the homestay before setting off to explore new routes. Along the way, we cross the iconic monkey bridge—an exciting experience with a touch of challenge that offers an authentic glimpse into rural Vietnamese life.

The highlight everyone has been waiting for awaits us: the legendary Ha Giang Loop. This demanding route is famous for its endless hairpin turns and dramatic mountain passes, pushing both your balance and endurance to the limit. Reaching the high mountain viewpoints and taking in the reward after conquering these winding roads is an unforgettable feeling.

Our next stop is a local H’mong homestay, where we immerse ourselves in nature and the slow, simple rhythm of mountain life. Here, we rest, recharge, and prepare for another incredible day of riding ahead.

Day 3: (14th May) HA GIANG – DONG VAN (APPROX 155 KM) (B/L/D)
Day 3: (14th May) HA GIANG – DONG VAN (APPROX 155 KM) (B/L/D)
A new day unfolds in Ha Giang Province as we continue exploring the hidden wonders that lie deep within this remarkable region. One of the highlights is the winding Tham Ma Pass, a road that brings excitement and a rush of energy to every rider. Surrounded by rugged limestone mountains that have stood the test of time, each curve reveals a different and unexpected perspective. The landscape here is raw, powerful, and breathtakingly untouched.
We then arrive in the ancient town of Dong Van, where a local hotel has been arranged for our stay. Wandering through its historic architecture and moss-covered stone alleyways, we take in sweeping views of layered mountain ranges stretching into the distance. The calm, contemplative atmosphere of Dong Van offers a peaceful pause—an ideal place to rest, reflect, and recharge after the day’s ride.
Day 4: (15th May ) DONG VAN – MEO VAC – BAO LAC (APPROX 120 KM) (B/L/D)

A Vietnam motorcycle tour would not be complete without the iconic Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most famous and unforgettable highlights of the entire journey. We begin the day by conquering this legendary mountain road, often regarded as the most beautiful pass in Vietnam. Towering cliffs, deep valleys, and the emerald-green Nho Que River create a breathtaking backdrop as we ride along the narrow mountain ridge.
After enjoying lunch in Meo Vac, the adventure continues with a truly special experience—a bamboo raft ride on the Nho Que River. This is a dream moment for photographers, as every angle reveals stunning scenery. The peaceful ride on the river offers a relaxing contrast to the challenging mountain roads conquered earlier in the day.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Bao Lac and check into a local hotel, enjoying a well-earned rest after a remarkable day of riding through some of Northeast Vietnam’s most spectacular landscapes.

This multi-tiered waterfall complex is one of the most beautiful and majestic in the region. Along the way, the tour will include a visit to Thung Mountain, with its towering karst limestone formations. The full-day trip, filled with experiences, will include a stop at Sai Gon Ban Gioc Resort, located near the waterfall, where you can enjoy a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.

Explore Ba Be Lake, located within the national park in Nam Mau commune, Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and among the top 20 most beautiful freshwater lakes in the world. The lake is surrounded by lush green cliffs. In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance by the local ethnic community, featuring folk songs and traditional dances of the Tay people. Rest at a homestay by Ba Be Lake to recharge for the final leg of the Northeast Vietnam journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We've got answers! Find common queries about our adventure programs.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
