Itinerary

Day 1: (29th Dec, 2024) Hanoi - Vu Linh (Approx 180km) (L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike
Kicking off our motorbike adventure, we rendezvous at the outskirts of the bustling city, where our trusty motorcycles await. Following a comprehensive briefing on the itinerary and a hearty breakfast, we set our course. Our chosen path leads us along the western edge of the city, tracing the meandering Red River. The well-maintained roads are ideal for motorcycle touring, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.
Our inaugural destination is the breathtaking Thac Ba Lake, a natural jewel of the region. From here, our journey takes an adventurous turn as we ascend a rugged trail to reach the captivating Vu Linh village. Nestled beside the tranquil lakeshore, Vu Linh is the ancestral home of the Dzao indigenous people, promising authentic cultural encounters and heartwarming hospitality.
The warm embrace of the Dzao community awaits, as we find lodging in their homestay for our first night. This signifies the commencement of our extraordinary voyage through northern Vietnam, where each twist and turn of the road reveals the true essence of this captivating region.
Day 2: (30th Dec, 2024) Vu Linh - Ha Giang (Approx 150km) (B/L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike
After breakfast at a local restaurant, we explore the bustling local market, interact with various ethnic communities, and capture memorable moments. Our motorcycle skills will be put to the test as we tackle challenging mountain passes, with a satisfying lunch in Hoang Su Phi.
In the afternoon, we take on an exciting 40-kilometer off-road journey through dense jungle to conquer the Tay Con Linh mountain range. This segment offers one of the most beautiful and thrilling trails in our Vietnam motorbike tour.
We later rejoin the main road for a more relaxing 20-kilometer ride to Ha Giang, reuniting with Road 2. Depending on the time, we may even visit the Ha Thanh waterfall. The day ends as we check in to our hotel, preparing for the adventures that lie ahead.
Day 3: (31st Dec, 2024) Ha Giang – Dong Van (Approx 150km) (B/L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike
Today, our journey steers us through the picturesque terrains of Quang Ba, Dong Van, and Yen Minh. These regions are a testament to nature's untouched splendor and serenity. The resilient locals here have carved a life on the rugged landscapes, with their enduring spirit evident in their ability to thrive on challenging terrains. Their warmth, simplicity, and infectious zest for life are truly heartwarming.
En route, we pause for refreshments at a quaint coffee shop, where a short climb rewards us with mesmerizing vistas of Quang Ba. Our culinary adventure continues with a delectable lunch at Yen Minh. The historic charm of Pho Bang beckons next, with its centuries-old multilayered clay brick houses crowned with traditional tiles. Our cultural exploration in Quang Ba further intensifies with a visit to the majestic Vuong Palace, the erstwhile abode of the illustrious H’mong King, Vuong Chi Sinh, during the French era. The palace is a brilliant confluence of European and Chinese architectural aesthetics, making it a haven for architecture aficionados. Our day culminates in the tranquil town of Dong Van, offering restful slumber in a local hotel.
Day 4: (1st Jan, 2025) Dong Van - Meo Vac - Bao Lac (Approx 120km) (B/L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike

Today, the journey itself becomes the highlight. As we navigate the breathtaking 21-km stretch of Mã Pí Lèng Pass, it's easy to understand its reputation as Vietnam's most awe-inspiring roadway. Towering limestone peaks, clothed in vibrant green, rise majestically, their slopes plunging into the deep river valleys below - it's the kind of scenic grandeur that wanderlust is built on. Our path eventually leads us to Bao Lac, a vibrant confluence of diverse ethnicities from Northeast Vietnam. Its Sunday market is a lively tapestry of cultures, drawing communities from across the border regions. Our day of exploration concludes with a restful night at a local hotel.

Day 5: (2nd Jan, 2025) Bao Lac – Ban Gioc Waterfall (Approx 200km) (B/L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike

This morning visit a village of Lo Lo people, a small ethnic group living high up on the mountain who have preserved their original culture, including their colorful, intricate traditional clothing and wooden stilt houses. Next continue on towards Bản Giốc, riding through beautiful countryside before reaching the resort at Ban Gioc.

Day 6: (3rd Jan, 2025) Ban Gioc Waterfall - Ba Be Lake (Approx 180km) (B/L/D)
Motorbike Motorbike
Morning, visit Ban Gioc waterfall, the fourth largest national border waterfall in the world and sourced from Quây Sơn River. This peaceful river starts in China and carves its way through rugged karst mountains before cascading down a series of dramatic falls into Vietnam. Both Vietnam and China enjoy the benefits of this majestic natural wonder.
Next, take a short drive to a nearby pagoda before walking up to a viewpoint where you can see a panoramic view of the entire waterfall and over to China and the Quay Son River.
After that, explore nearby Nguom Ngao Cave, a 2,700-meter cave that was created over millions of years and today features beautiful, unique stalagmite and stalactite formations not found in other caves in Vietnam. Listen to the roaring sounds created by an underground stream running over the rocks below, and you’ll understand why the local Tay people named this Tiger Cave. Travel on to Ba Be Lake.
