Riding alongside the tranquil Hong Son Lake, we’re greeted with breathtaking views of tiny emerald islands scattered across the water, framed by forests and limestone peaks—an unforgettable start to the journey.
The road unfolds with sweeping curves and open stretches, giving riders plenty of opportunities to enjoy the handling and power of the big bike while soaking in the rural beauty of Northern Vietnam. By the afternoon, we roll into Mai Chau, a peaceful valley surrounded by mountains and rice fields. There will be time to unwind and explore the charming surroundings before dinner.
In the evening, we gather to experience a traditional Thai dance performance, offering a cultural touch to our day’s ride. Overnight accommodation is arranged in authentic Thai stilt houses, combining comfort with local character.

This should be an easy ride towards the coast. As you leave the Tay Son highlands behind, and about 30 km from Nha Trang to the north, you rejoin Highway 1 and take the picturesque coastal road. The Vietnam motorcycle tour continues with enchanting emerald green waters and scenic fishing boats that look like tiny gems all along the way, until you reach the popular tourist destination of Nha Trang.

After yesterday’s relaxation day, you are ready to ride today’s 150-kilometer mountainous trail that will unveil some of the most famous footage that you might have seen in the Top Gear Vietnam show, as played by BBC, in 2008. You head to Central Highland and reach the City of Love, Dalat. It is a very favorite destination for both locals and the French, due to its extraordinary beauty, majestic waterfalls, evergreen forests, mesmerizing lakes, the best flower gardens found in the country, and fresh and tasty agricultural products. It has always been a pleasant oasis for those that wanted an escape from the lowlands’ high temperatures.
With more than many places to see, you can spend the day visiting Da Lat’s highlights, which could include the gardens, the Valley of Love, the key pagodas, the waterfalls, or admire the architecture and beauty of the cathedral, the convent, and the university.
You’ll spend the night at Da Lat.

Riding on Road 20, you head for the National Park of Cat Tien that was used as a Vietnamese militia headquarters, during the Vietnam War. It is a park that has endured much suffering, as it was massively sprayed with herbicides during the war. Up to this day, you cannot find proper vegetation and tree growth in the land, and it is predominantly covered with grass and bamboo trees.
You’ll spend the night in a resort in Cat Tien National Park.

Despite the relatively short route, today’s trip will be rather tiring as the traffic as we enter Saigon can be mind-blowing. The ride ends as soon as we reach the train station. Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
