Leaving Hanoi behind, we ride through the lush countryside of Hoa Binh Province, where limestone mountains, peaceful lakes, and emerald rice fields create a spectacular introduction to Northern Vietnam. By late afternoon, we arrive in Mai Chau, a serene valley renowned for its traditional Thai stilt houses and warm hospitality. In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance featuring local music and dance before settling in for the night.

After breakfast, we continue deeper into the mountains, following winding roads along the Da River. A local ferry crossing adds a memorable touch to the journey as we pass dramatic landscapes and remote villages. By evening, we reach Phu Yen, where a peaceful homestay and mountain hospitality await.

Today’s ride leads through rolling hills, fertile valleys, and quiet ethnic villages. The changing scenery offers a rewarding glimpse into the natural beauty and traditional life of Northwest Vietnam. By afternoon, we arrive in Nghia Lo, a charming town surrounded by rice fields and forested mountains.

We ride north through some of the region’s most dramatic mountain scenery, crossing legendary high passes and winding roads. By evening, we reach Sa Pa, a lively mountain town known for its cool climate, terraced landscapes, and rich ethnic cultures.

Enjoy a free day to experience Sapa at your own pace. You may ride the cable car to Fansipan, visit Cat Cat Village, or explore Muong Hoa Valley and the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van. For those seeking rest, Sapa’s cafés, herbal baths, and mountain atmosphere offer the perfect opportunity to recharge.

Leaving Sapa behind, we follow scenic mountain roads toward Ha Giang. The route passes remote valleys, bustling local markets, and some of the most captivating landscapes in Northern Vietnam.

Today we enter the extraordinary Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. Along the way, we stop at panoramic viewpoints, visit the historic Vuong Palace, and pass through ancient mountain villages before arriving in Dong Van.

Cross the world-famous Ma Pi Leng Pass, where towering cliffs overlook the emerald Nho Que River far below. Continuing through remote mountain landscapes, we descend to Bao Lac.
Ride through peaceful countryside and traditional villages toward the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall. Shared by Vietnam and China, this spectacular cascade is one of the most impressive natural wonders in the country.
After exploring nearby Nguom Ngao Cave, we continue south to Ba Be National Park. Surrounded by forested mountains and limestone cliffs, Ba Be Lake offers a peaceful and scenic overnight stop.
Our final ride follows quiet countryside roads through tea plantations and rural villages in Thai Nguyen Province. By late afternoon, we return to Hanoi, bringing to a close an unforgettable journey through Northern Vietnam’s most dramatic landscapes and diverse ethnic cultures.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.
For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.
