Your adventure begins as we leave Hanoi and ride west through scenic countryside and limestone mountains to the peaceful valley of Mai Chau. Home to the White Thai ethnic minority, Mai Chau is known for its traditional stilt houses, rice paddies, and warm hospitality. In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance and a traditional dinner before settling into a charming local homestay.

Day 2: (24th December 2027) Mai Chau – Phu Yen (190 KM / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we climb toward the cool highlands of Moc Chau, famous for its rolling tea plantations and mountain scenery. Continuing along quiet backroads and crossing the Da River by ferry, we reach the remote town of Phu Yen. Tonight, enjoy a cozy homestay and authentic local hospitality.

Day 3: (25th December 2027) Phu Yen – Nghia Lo (130 KM / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)

Today’s route takes us over the historic Lung Lo Pass, a mountain road that played a significant role during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Surrounded by dramatic scenery and rich history, this ride is both scenic and meaningful. By late afternoon, we arrive in Nghia Lo, where we relax for the evening.

Day 4: (26th December 2027) Nghia Lo – Mu Cang Chai (130 KM / Approx. 4 Hours) (B/L/D)

We ride through the beautiful Tu Le Valley and conquer the legendary Khau Pha Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Vietnam. By afternoon, we arrive in Mu Cang Chai, renowned for its breathtaking terraced rice fields and vibrant H’mong culture. Overnight in a welcoming local homestay.

Day 5: (27th December 2027) Mu Cang Chai – Sapa (160 KM / Approx. 5 Hours) (B/L/D)

Continuing north, we cross the famous O Quy Ho Pass, often described as a ride through the clouds. Sweeping curves and panoramic mountain views make this one of the highlights of the tour. Arrive in Sapa, Vietnam’s iconic highland retreat.

Day 6: (28th December 2027) Sapa Relaxation Day (B)

Today is free for you to explore Sapa at your own pace. Visit nearby villages, waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints, browse local markets, or simply relax with a spa treatment and enjoy the cool mountain air.

Day 7: (29th December 2027) Sapa – Thac Ba Lake (230 KM / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)

Descending from the mountains, we ride through peaceful countryside to Thac Ba Lake. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat trip across emerald waters dotted with forested islands before spending the night in a traditional Dao village.

Day 8: (30th December 2027) Thac Ba Lake – Hanoi (180 KM / Approx. 5 Hours) (B/L)

Our final ride takes us through the fertile Red River Delta and rural villages as we return to Hanoi. Arriving in the afternoon, we conclude an unforgettable journey through the mountains, cultures, and stunning landscapes of Northern Vietnam.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.

March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.

May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.

September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.

December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
