Set off on an unforgettable 7-day motorbike expedition through the spectacular landscapes of Northeast Vietnam, where towering limestone mountains, winding mountain passes, and rich ethnic traditions create one of the country’s most rewarding riding experiences. From the lively streets of Hanoi to the remote frontiers near the Chinese border, this journey blends thrilling roads with authentic cultural encounters and breathtaking natural scenery. Ride alongside the Red River toward the peaceful waters of Thac Ba Lake before entering the dramatic mountain region of Ha Giang, home to the legendary Ha Giang Loop and some of Vietnam’s most iconic riding routes. Conquer famous passes including Tham Ma and Ma Pi Leng, where deep valleys, sharp limestone peaks, and endless mountain panoramas unfold around every corner. Your Northeast Vietnam adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel before transferring to the starting point on the outskirts of Hanoi. Leaving the busy capital behind, we follow scenic roads alongside the Red River, enjoying a smooth and relaxing introduction to the journey ahead.
Our route leads toward the vast waters of Thac Ba Lake, one of Vietnam’s most beautiful freshwater lakes, surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful countryside in Yen Bai Province. By afternoon, we arrive in Vu Linh, a traditional village home to the Dzao ethnic community, where long-standing customs and warm hospitality remain deeply preserved.
Tonight, enjoy an authentic homestay experience, complete with local cuisine, cultural performances, and a memorable introduction to the traditions of Northern Vietnam’s ethnic communities.

After breakfast at the homestay, we continue deeper into the mountains of Northeast Vietnam, riding through peaceful rural landscapes and remote countryside roads. Along the way, we cross the famous monkey bridge, adding a fun and authentic local experience to the day’s ride.
The highlight ahead is the legendary Ha Giang Loop, renowned for its dramatic mountain scenery, endless switchbacks, and challenging riding conditions. The route tests both focus and endurance while rewarding riders with breathtaking panoramic viewpoints across towering limestone peaks and deep valleys.
By evening, we arrive at a local H’mong homestay, where the peaceful atmosphere and surrounding mountain landscapes offer the perfect setting to rest and recharge for the adventures ahead.

Today’s journey continues through the extraordinary landscapes of Ha Giang Province, where rugged mountains and remote valleys create some of the most spectacular scenery in Vietnam. One of the day’s major highlights is Tham Ma Pass, a twisting mountain road known for its sharp curves and dramatic limestone surroundings.
Every section of the route reveals a different perspective of the region’s raw and untouched beauty, making this one of the most exciting riding days of the tour. By afternoon, we arrive in the ancient town of Dong Van, where historic architecture and old stone alleyways reflect the area’s rich cultural heritage.
After checking into the hotel, there is time to wander through the old quarter and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges before a restful evening in this peaceful highland town.

Today’s ride takes us toward the border region between Vietnam and China, where the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall awaits. Along the route, we stop at Thung Mountain, known for its striking karst landscapes and panoramic natural scenery. The day combines scenic riding with some of the most remarkable natural landmarks in Northeast Vietnam.

After breakfast, we continue the journey with a visit to Nguom Ngao Cave, a remarkable limestone cave system filled with impressive stalactites and unique rock formations shaped over thousands of years.
From here, the route leads toward the peaceful landscapes of Ba Be Lake, located within Ba Be National Park in Bac Kan Province. Surrounded by forested limestone mountains, Ba Be is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and one of the country’s most scenic natural treasures.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional cultural performance featuring folk songs and dances from the Tay ethnic community. Tonight’s lakeside homestay offers a relaxing and authentic final overnight experience surrounded by nature and local culture.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
