May marks the beginning of Vietnam's vibrant summer season, when the countryside is at its greenest, the coastline enjoys long sunny days, and the Central Highlands offer some of the year's most enjoyable riding conditions. This 14-day motorcycle expedition takes riders from Hanoi to Saigon through mountain valleys, historic routes, highland plateaus, and tropical coastlines, revealing the extraordinary diversity of Vietnam along the way.
From the lush rice fields of Mai Chau and the dramatic limestone landscapes of Phong Nha to the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, the coffee-growing heartland of Buon Ma Thuot, and the cool mountain roads of Da Lat, every stage offers a different perspective on the country. Designed for riders seeking adventure, cultural discovery, and unforgettable roads, this journey showcases Vietnam at the beginning of its most colorful season.

Leaving Hanoi behind, we ride west toward the mountains of Hoa Binh Province. At this time of year, the countryside is bursting with life, with rice fields, forests, and valleys displaying vibrant shades of green under the early summer sun.
Arriving in Mai Chau Valley, we discover one of northern Vietnam's most picturesque regions. Traditional stilt houses, peaceful villages, and fertile farmland provide the perfect introduction to the adventure ahead.
Today's route takes us through the agricultural heartland of northern Vietnam. Quiet roads weave through rolling hills, farming communities, and remote villages where traditional ways of life remain largely unchanged.
The longer daylight hours of May allow plenty of time to enjoy the scenery before reaching Tan Ky, a town closely connected to the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail.
As we continue south, towering limestone formations begin to rise dramatically from the landscape. The scenery becomes increasingly spectacular as we approach one of Vietnam's most famous natural regions.
Arriving in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, we enter a world of ancient karst mountains, jungle-covered valleys, and world-renowned cave systems.
Today offers one of the finest riding experiences of the expedition. Following remote sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, we ride through dense forests, mountain valleys, and some of the most rewarding roads in Vietnam.
The combination of flowing curves, minimal traffic, and dramatic scenery creates an unforgettable day before arriving in Khe Sanh.
No motorcycle journey through Vietnam would be complete without crossing the Hai Van Pass. This legendary road delivers spectacular views over mountains, coastline, and the East Sea.
Descending toward Da Nang, we continue south to Hoi An, one of Vietnam's most charming and beautifully preserved historic towns.
After six days of riding, today offers a chance to slow down and enjoy Hoi An at your own pace. Explore the Ancient Town, relax by the beach, or discover the unique atmosphere that makes this destination so memorable.
The rest day provides the perfect preparation for the mountain adventures waiting ahead.
Leaving the coast behind, we begin our ascent into the Central Highlands. The route passes through remote mountain landscapes, dense forests, and ethnic minority villages.
By afternoon, we arrive in Mang Den, a peaceful retreat surrounded by pine forests and cool mountain air.
Today's route crosses the vast plateaus of Vietnam's coffee-growing region. Rolling hills, fertile volcanic soil, and endless plantations dominate the scenery.
Arriving in Buon Ma Thuot, riders experience the cultural and agricultural center of the Central Highlands.
The road gradually descends from the cool highlands toward Vietnam's tropical coastline. Sweeping mountain curves give way to ocean views as we approach Nha Trang.
This dramatic transition between landscapes makes today one of the most visually rewarding stages of the expedition.
Enjoy a day of relaxation beside the sea. Whether exploring nearby islands, enjoying fresh seafood, or simply unwinding on the beach, today's slower pace offers a welcome contrast to the adventure of the road.
Today's route climbs steadily into the mountains surrounding Da Lat. Endless curves, cooler temperatures, and changing scenery create one of the most enjoyable riding days of the tour.
Da Lat's pine forests, lakes, and colonial architecture offer a refreshing change from the tropical coast.
Leaving Da Lat behind, we descend through fertile agricultural regions before entering the lowland forests of southern Vietnam.
The area surrounding Cat Tien National Park is home to one of the country's most important rainforest ecosystems and provides a final taste of Vietnam's natural beauty.
Our final riding day takes us toward the vibrant energy of Saigon. As the skyline appears on the horizon, riders can reflect on an extraordinary journey through mountains, coastlines, highlands, forests, and countless cultural landscapes.
Arriving in Saigon marks the successful completion of an unforgettable motorcycle expedition across the length of Vietnam.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.
For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.
