Your Vietnam motorcycle tour begins as you leave the bustling streets of Hanoi and head toward the peaceful countryside. The ride starts with smooth on-road sections, giving you time to get comfortable while the scenery gradually shifts into rolling hills, quiet villages, and open valleys.

By afternoon, you arrive in Vu Linh, a small village home to the Dao ethnic community. Here, life slows down, offering a genuine glimpse into local culture. A relaxing boat trip on Thac Ba Lake reveals a tranquil landscape often described as “Ha Long Bay in the mountains,” with limestone islands rising from calm, reflective waters.

Day 2: (16th April 2027) Vu Linh – Ha Giang (Approx. 170 Km) (B/L/D)

Today, your Vietnam motorcycle tour moves deeper into the mountains as you ride toward Ha Giang, the gateway to the famous Ha Giang Loop.

The route combines scenic roads and off-road sections, passing through remote areas and ethnic villages. The landscape becomes more dramatic with winding roads and higher peaks, marking the beginning of your true Northeast adventure.

Day 3: (17th April 2027) Ha Giang – Dong Van (Approx. 155 Km) (B/L/D)

You ride deeper into the Dong Van Karst Plateau, one of the most spectacular regions in Northern Vietnam.

Passing Quan Ba Heaven Gate and the valleys of Yen Minh, the road winds through limestone mountains and ethnic villages. The mix of smooth sections and more technical riding keeps the journey engaging, with stunning panoramic views throughout the day.

Arriving in Dong Van, you experience the unique atmosphere of a remote highland town surrounded by dramatic peaks.

Day 4: (18th April 2027) Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac (Approx. 120 Km) (B/L/D)

The day begins with Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most iconic mountain roads in Vietnam, offering breathtaking views over the Nho Que River far below.

Continuing through Meo Vac toward Bao Lac, the route blends smooth riding with off-road sections through remote and untouched landscapes. This is one of the most thrilling and scenic days of your Vietnam motorcycle tour.

Day 5: (19th April 2027) Bao Lac – Ban Gioc Waterfall (Approx. 200 Km) (B/L/D)

You ride through Cao Bang province along lesser-known routes that feel remote and authentic. The journey combines comfortable riding with off-road exploration, passing through quiet villages and mountainous terrain.

Arriving at Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the most impressive natural wonders in Vietnam, you are surrounded by lush green mountains and powerful cascading water, creating a scene that is both peaceful and dramatic.

Day 6: (20th April 2027) Ban Gioc Waterfall – Ba Be Lake (Approx. 180 Km) (B/L/D)

Leaving Ban Gioc, the ride continues through forested hills and peaceful countryside toward Ba Be National Park.

At Ba Be Lake, the atmosphere becomes calm and serene, surrounded by limestone mountains and dense jungle. It is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Northern Vietnam, offering a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Day 7: (21st April 2027) Ba Be – Hanoi (Approx. 220 Km) (B/L)

On the final day, you ride back to Hanoi as the mountains gradually fade into flat countryside and rice fields.

This long ride offers time to reflect on your journey through Ha Giang, Dong Van, Cao Bang, and Ba Be, from off-road adventures and mountain passes to authentic cultural encounters.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.

March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.

May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.

September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.

December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
