Leave the ordinary behind and ride deep into the wild landscapes of Northwest Vietnam on this 7-day motorcycle adventure. Starting from Hanoi, the journey quickly shifts from busy streets to winding mountain roads, remote valleys, and untouched highlands where every turn reveals something new. You will take on legendary passes like Lung Lo and Khau Pha, where steep climbs and sharp curves open up breathtaking views across endless ridgelines. In Mu Cang Chai, rice terraces stretch across the mountains like steps into the sky, while Sapa’s cool air and drifting mist create a dramatic highland atmosphere. Beyond the ride, this journey connects you with real local life through traditional homestays, shared meals, and authentic experiences in ethnic communities. From quiet mountain villages to the peaceful waters of Thac Ba Lake, this is more than just a tour, it is a true adventure for riders seeking raw landscapes, meaningful connections, and unforgettable roads.
The ride continues toward Moc Chau, where endless green tea hills stretch across the landscape. The air is cooler here, and the scenery opens wide, offering a refreshing start to the day. After a break, the route shifts onto quieter mountain roads, leading you toward the Da River. Crossing by local ferry adds a sense of adventure, with wide views of mountains reflected on the water. From here, the road becomes more remote as you ride deeper into the highlands before reaching Phu Yen, where a local homestay awaits.
Today brings one of the most memorable rides of the journey as you take on Lung Lo Pass. The road winds through rugged terrain, with sharp turns and dramatic elevation changes that keep every moment engaging. As you climb higher, the views stretch further, revealing layers of mountains fading into the distance. After descending, the ride softens into valleys and quiet countryside roads before arriving in Nghia Lo, where you can relax and recharge.
Ride deeper into the mountains as the landscape becomes more striking with every kilometer. The highlight of the day is Khau Pha Pass, one of the most famous mountain roads in Vietnam. From the top, the view opens wide across Tu Le Valley, where rice terraces curve along the hillsides. Continue on to Mu Cang Chai, a region known for its iconic terraced fields and strong cultural identity. Spend the night in a local homestay and experience life in the mountains up close.
The journey climbs higher as you head toward Sapa, crossing one of the most spectacular mountain passes in the north, O Quy Ho. At this altitude, the air cools and clouds drift across the peaks, creating a constantly changing landscape. The ride is both challenging and rewarding, with long stretches of open views. Arriving in Sapa, you step into a mountain town rich in culture, where different ethnic communities bring color and character to daily life.
Descend from the highlands toward Lao Cai, riding along a river that marks the border with China. The route then leads through green valleys and quiet rural areas, offering a more relaxed pace after days in the mountains. By afternoon, you reach Thac Ba Lake, a peaceful landscape dotted with forested islands. Take a boat trip across the calm water, enjoy a swim, and slow down the rhythm of the journey. Spend the evening with a local Dao family and experience their way of life.
The final ride follows gentle roads along the Red River, passing through villages, farms, and small local markets. The pace is steady and reflective, giving you time to take in the last moments of the journey. As you approach Hanoi, the scenery shifts back to city life, marking the end of an adventure filled with mountain roads, local encounters, and unforgettable landscapes.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.
For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.
