Our thrilling motorcycle expedition kicks off on the outskirts of the vibrant city, where we'll collect our bikes. Following a comprehensive briefing on the North Vietnam motorbike tour and a delightful breakfast, we set out on our journey. Riding along the western fringes of the city, we follow the course of the majestic Red River. The roads are tailor-made for motorbike exploration, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.

Our first destination is the breathtaking Thac Ba Lake, a natural marvel. From there, we traverse a rugged trail leading to the enchanting Vu Linh village. Nestled by the lakeside, Vu Linh is the home of the Dzao indigenous people, adding an authentic cultural dimension to our adventure.

The welcoming hospitality of the Dzao community embraces us as we settle into their homestay for the night. This marks the commencement of our unforgettable expedition through northern Vietnam, where each twist and turn in the road unveils the true charm of this captivating region. Overnight, we'll enjoy the cozy hospitality of the Dzao ethnic people at their homestay, adding a warm and cultural touch to our journey.

As the morning sun casts its golden glow, we reluctantly leave the warm embrace of Vu Linh behind. Our journey unfolds, guiding us through a tapestry of breathtaking landscapes and meandering roads toward the enchanting destination of Ha Giang. Along the way, the road unveils poetic streams, creating a serene backdrop to our thrilling motorbike adventure.

Our route takes us through quaint villages, providing glimpses into the daily rhythms of local life. Embarking on the third day of our motorbike odyssey, we set out from Ha Giang, ready to conquer the winding roads that lead to Dong Van. The journey is punctuated by the exhilarating ride through Tham Ma Pass, where the wind whispers through the mountains, creating a symphony of nature that accompanies our ascent.

As we wind through Tham Ma Pass, the breathtaking vistas unfold, offering panoramic views of the rugged landscapes that define this region. The road becomes a dance between motorbike and terrain, each turn revealing a new facet of the Northern Vietnamese charm.

Our destination, Dong Van, beckons with its unique blend of history and culture. The fourth day of our exhilarating motorbike expedition leads us from Dong Van to Meo Vac and ultimately to Bao Lac, promising a day filled with thrilling landscapes and cultural encounters.

Our journey begins with a breathtaking highlight – the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass. As we navigate this iconic pass, perched atop towering cliffs, the sweeping views of the jagged mountains and the serpentine Nho Que River below create a visual spectacle that will be etched in our memories.

The adventure doesn't stop there. Today, we put our riding skills to the test on a challenging single track along the Nho Que River. This exhilarating section offers an adrenaline-pumping experience, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Northern Vietnamese countryside.

Adding a touch of tranquility, we'll take a pause to savor lunch in Meo Vac, immersing ourselves in the local flavors. Afterward, our journey continues with a unique experience – a bamboo raft ride on the meandering Nho Que River. Day 5: (17th Dec, 2025) BAO LAC – BAN GIOC WATERFALL (APPROX 200 KM) (B/L/D)

After a delightful breakfast overlooking the Ban Gioc Waterfall, our motorbike expedition continues with a visit to the captivating Nguom Ngao Cave. The intricate formations of stalactites and stalagmites within the cave create a mesmerizing underground world, adding a touch of wonder to our journey.

The highlight of the day unfolds as we set our sights on the tranquil waters of Ba Be Lake. Riding along scenic routes, we approach the shores of this freshwater haven. To fully immerse ourselves in the serenity of Ba Be Lake, we embark on a boat trip, gliding over the calm waters framed by lush greenery. The route leads us through familiar northern landscapes, each bend reminding us of the adventure we’ve lived. Gradually, the calm countryside gives way to the vibrant pulse of the capital. By around 4 pm, we arrive in Hanoi — completing our motorbike loop. The journey ends, but the memories of cultures, roads, and scenery will stay with us long after.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.

March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.

May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.

September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.

December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
