Your Vietnam motorcycle adventure begins just outside the bustling city of Hanoi, where your bikes are ready and waiting. After a detailed briefing and breakfast, you set off along the Red River, following smooth and scenic roads that offer a comfortable start to the journey.

The first highlight is Thac Ba Lake, a vast and picturesque body of water. From here, the ride becomes more adventurous as you take a rugged trail leading to Vu Linh village, home of the Dzao ethnic community. Nestled beside the lake, the village offers a warm welcome and an authentic cultural experience with an overnight stay in a local homestay.

Day 2: (13th July 2027) Vu Linh – Sapa (Approx. 200 Km) (B/L/D)

Leaving Vu Linh behind, the journey continues toward Sapa, one of the most iconic highlights of Northern Vietnam. The route winds through terraced rice fields and ethnic villages inhabited by H’mong and Dzao communities.

Along the way, you’ll stop for local cuisine and take in the ever-changing mountain scenery. Upon arrival in Sapa, settle into your accommodation and explore the lively town, with optional visits to nearby villages such as Cat Cat.

Day 3: (14th July 2027) Sapa – Bac Ha – Xin Man (Approx. 130 Km) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, ride toward Bac Ha, known for its colorful markets and the Flower H’mong community. The morning offers stunning mountain views and an immersive cultural experience.

In the afternoon, continue to Xin Man, a remote and less-traveled destination. The route passes waterfalls and untouched forest landscapes before arriving at your accommodation, where you can relax and prepare for the next stage of the journey.

Day 4: (15th July 2027) Xin Man – Ha Giang (Approx. 150 Km) (B/L/D)

The day begins with a visit to a lively local market before tackling more challenging terrain. The ride includes mountain passes and a scenic lunch stop in Hoang Su Phi.

In the afternoon, an exciting off-road section takes you through jungle trails across the Tay Con Linh range, one of the most thrilling parts of the trip. Later, you return to smoother roads and continue to Ha Giang, with an optional visit to Ha Thanh waterfall before checking in at your hotel.

Day 5: (16th July 2027) Ha Giang – Dong Van (Approx. 150 Km) (B/L/D)

Ride through the stunning landscapes of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, and Dong Van, known for their dramatic scenery and resilient local communities.

Stops along the way include panoramic viewpoints, Pho Bang ancient village, and the historic Vuong Palace. By evening, arrive in Dong Van and settle into your hotel, ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 6: (17th July 2027) Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac (Approx. 120 Km) (B/L/D)

Today features one of the most spectacular rides of the journey: Ma Pi Leng Pass. This legendary stretch offers breathtaking views of limestone peaks and deep valleys carved by the Nho Que River.

The ride continues toward Bao Lac, a culturally rich town known for its vibrant markets and diverse ethnic groups. Overnight at a local hotel.

Day 7: (18th July 2027) Bao Lac – Ba Be (Approx. 130 Km) (B/L/D)

A challenging yet rewarding day awaits, with a mix of rough roads, river crossings, and mountain passes. The route tests your riding skills while offering stunning scenery throughout.

In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful boat trip on Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam. Overnight at a traditional homestay with local Tay cuisine.

Day 8: (19th July 2027) Ba Be – Ban Gioc (Approx. 200 Km) (B/L/D)

Continue the adventure through remote terrain with a mix of off-road and paved sections. The journey offers both challenges and incredible landscapes.

Arrive at Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the most impressive natural wonders in Vietnam, where you can relax and take in the scenic beauty.

Day 9: (20th July 2027) Ban Gioc – Bac Son (Approx. 180 Km) (B/L/D)

Ride from Ban Gioc to Bac Son through a variety of landscapes, from winding mountain roads to peaceful rural plains.

Enjoy scenic stops along the way and connect with local communities. Bac Son welcomes you with its lush rice fields and tranquil setting, perfect for a relaxing evening.

Day 10: (21st July 2027) Bac Son – Ha Long Bay (Approx. 200 Km) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, ride toward Ha Long Bay. Upon arrival, your motorcycles are transferred, and the journey transitions to a cruise experience.

Explore the bay’s iconic limestone karsts, emerald waters, and hidden caves. This marks a shift from rugged adventure to peaceful exploration.

Day 11: (22nd July 2027) Ha Long Bay (B/L/D)

Spend the day cruising through Ha Long Bay, discovering caves, kayaking, swimming, or simply relaxing on deck.

As the sun sets, enjoy dinner onboard and take in the tranquil beauty of the bay under the night sky.

Day 12: (23rd July 2027) Ha Long Bay – Hanoi (B/L)

After a final morning in Ha Long Bay, return to Hanoi by car.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.

March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.

May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.

September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.

December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
