Leaving Hanoi behind, we ride north toward the tranquil shores of Hong Son Lake, where jade waters reflect towering limestone cliffs and scattered green islets. Gentle curves and wide-open views make this the perfect warm-up ride into Northern Vietnam’s countryside. By mid-afternoon, we roll into the peaceful Mai Chau Valley.

There’s time to wander the village or relax before dinner. In the evening, enjoy a vibrant cultural performance featuring traditional Thai dances. Tonight, you'll stay in charming stilt houses—an authentic slice of local life and hospitality in one of the region’s most serene valleys.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to our hosts and begin climbing toward the cool highlands of Moc Chau, a region famous for its rolling tea plantations. The road winds through a mosaic of cultures, passing villages inhabited by Green H’mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong communities.

After lunch, we follow scenic Road 43 toward the Da River, crossing the Van Yen Reservoir by ferry before continuing deeper into the mountains. By late afternoon, we arrive in Phu Yen, a quiet town in Son La Province known for its friendly atmosphere and authentic rural character.

Today's ride takes us over the historic Lung Lo Pass, a mountain route that played a vital role during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The winding road offers sweeping mountain views while carrying deep historical significance.

By afternoon, we reach Nghia Lo, a welcoming town nestled among rice valleys and ethnic minority communities. The evening is yours to relax and prepare for the spectacular mountain scenery ahead.

After breakfast, we ride toward one of Northwest Vietnam’s most celebrated destinations. The route climbs steadily through tea-covered hills before reaching the magnificent Khau Pha Pass, famous for its dramatic views and endless mountain panoramas.

Along the way, we pass through Tu Le Valley, known for its terraced landscapes and hot springs. Arriving in Mu Cang Chai, we discover one of Vietnam’s most iconic rice terrace regions, where generations of Hmong communities have shaped the mountains into breathtaking works of art.

This morning we continue north toward the legendary Quy Ho Pass, one of the most scenic mountain roads in Vietnam. Towering peaks, deep valleys, and drifting clouds create unforgettable riding conditions throughout the day.

Upon arrival in Sapa, we'll explore the town's unique cultural atmosphere, including the historic Stone Church and bustling central square. Surrounded by mountain scenery and vibrant ethnic traditions, Sapa remains one of Northern Vietnam’s most captivating destinations.

Enjoy a free day to experience Sapa at your own pace. You may choose to visit nearby villages such as Cat Cat or Ta Phin, take the cable car to Fansipan Peak, explore local markets, or simply relax and enjoy the cool mountain climate.

With no fixed schedule, today offers the perfect opportunity to recharge while discovering the charm and beauty of Vietnam’s most famous highland town.

After breakfast, we descend from Sapa toward Lao Cai before following scenic countryside roads toward Thac Ba Lake. Along the way, we pass palm forests, quiet villages, and peaceful agricultural landscapes rarely visited by tourists.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip across the lake's calm waters, dotted with small islands and surrounded by forested hills. The area is home to the Dao ethnic community, whose traditional way of life remains closely connected to the lake.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created
equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild
temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance
if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the
rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two
per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature
becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect
for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen
in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months
you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
