Your journey begins in Hanoi, where the rhythm of the city gradually fades as you ride toward the peaceful mountains of Hòa Bình. The road leads through winding valleys, limestone formations, and scenic reservoirs, offering a striking introduction to the raw beauty of Northwest Vietnam.
As you climb higher, the air becomes cooler and fresher, and the landscapes open into sweeping views of rural life. By late afternoon, you arrive in Mai Chau, a quiet valley known for its traditional stilt houses and laid-back charm. Take time to explore the village, meet local families, and settle into the slower pace of life. In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance before spending the night in a welcoming homestay.

After breakfast, leave Mai Chau and ride into the lush highlands of Moc Chau, where rolling tea plantations stretch across the hills like waves of green. The journey continues along quiet backroads, offering moments of stillness and connection with the surrounding nature.
Reaching the Đà River, you cross by a traditional local ferry, adding a unique and authentic touch to the experience. The ride then continues through remote countryside and small villages before arriving in Phù Yên. Here, you’ll enjoy a comfortable overnight stay, surrounded by the calm atmosphere of rural Vietnam.

Today’s ride takes you deeper into the mountainous heart of the region. The road climbs steadily toward Lung Lo Pass, a historic route that once played a vital role during the Điện Biên Phủ campaign.
As you navigate its winding curves, you are rewarded with panoramic views of layered mountain ranges and vast valleys stretching into the distance. The scenery is both dramatic and humbling, offering a sense of scale and history that defines this region. By late afternoon, you arrive in Nghĩa Lộ, where you can relax and recharge for the next stage of the journey.

Leaving Nghĩa Lộ, the landscape gradually transforms as you approach one of Vietnam’s most iconic mountain passes—Khau Pha. The road rises and falls through a series of sweeping curves, revealing breathtaking views of terraced rice fields carved into the mountainsides.
In Tu Le, you may notice the gentle rhythm of rural life, with farmers working the fields and the scent of fresh harvests in the air. Continuing onward, you arrive in Mu Cang Chai, a region famous for its stunning rice terraces and vibrant Hmong culture. The evening is spent in a local homestay, where you can enjoy warm hospitality and a deeper connection with the local community.

Today’s journey takes you across the spectacular Ô Quy Hồ Pass, one of the highest and most scenic mountain roads in Vietnam. As you ride, the landscape shifts between mist-covered peaks, deep valleys, and endless layers of mountains fading into the horizon.
Arriving in Sapa, you’ll notice a distinct change in atmosphere. The cool climate, vibrant markets, and mix of cultures create a unique highland experience. Spend the afternoon exploring the town or simply relaxing before settling into your accommodation for the night.

After several days on the road, today is dedicated to rest and personal exploration. Sapa offers the perfect setting to slow down and take in the surroundings at your own pace.
You may choose to wander through the town, enjoy local cafés, or take a short ride to nearby villages such as Cat Cat or Ta Phin. There’s no fixed schedule—just the freedom to explore or relax as you wish. This day allows you to fully absorb the beauty and atmosphere of the highlands before continuing the journey.

Leaving the mountains behind, you begin your descent through scenic roads that follow the natural contours of the land. Along the way, you pass quiet villages and river valleys, where life moves at a gentle pace.
Eventually, you arrive at Thac Ba Lake, a vast and peaceful body of water dotted with small forested islands. Here, you take a boat trip across the lake, gliding through calm waters surrounded by nature. The experience is serene and reflective, offering a perfect contrast to the earlier mountain rides. Overnight near the lake.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.

For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.

The short answer is, there's never a bad time to visit Vietnam! Not all seasons are created equal though and there are pros and cons to each.
March - April is typically the best season in terms of weather to visit Vietnam. Expect sun, mild temperatures and limited rain! This also means busy season, so make sure to book in advance if you plan to visit during these months.
May - August is the hotter times of the year in Vietnam and also the rainier season. Don't be too scared of the rain though! It typically only lasts an hour or two per day, if that. This rarely disrupts travel or our tours and you get to enjoy warmer weather.
September - November are a secret gem of a time to visit Vietnam. The temperature becomes more moderate than the summer, rain stops, and the conditions are perfect for trekking or motorcycle trips. This is also when Full Moon Celebrations happen in Vietnam, so it's a particularly festive season to experience Vietnamese culture.
December - February are the coldest months in Vietnam. During these months you may prefer to visit the southern parts of Vietnam which are warmer, and we have many tours that operate there!
