If time allows, we pause at Thanh Ha Hot Springs for a relaxing soak. We then continue to Ha Giang, where we spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Begin your 11-day Northern Vietnam motorbike journey in Hanoi and venture deep into some of the region’s most remote and unspoiled landscapes. Leaving the familiar behind, you’ll ride far beyond the tourist routes—crossing misty mountain passes, winding through dramatic limestone valleys, and reaching ethnic minority villages where traditional ways of life continue undisturbed.
Along the road, breathe in the cool highland air, gather around village fires to share stories, and witness customs that have been passed down for generations. Led by skilled local riders, the tour blends challenging yet rewarding riding with meaningful cultural encounters and a true sense of exploration.
More than a scenic adventure, this Northern Vietnam motorbike tour is a journey of freedom, human connection, and discovery—crafted for riders who seek authenticity and unforgettable experiences on two wheels.

After breakfast, we depart Phu Yen and ride through gentle countryside defined by rice paddies, hillside villages, and winding mountain roads. It’s an easygoing riding day, giving you time to settle into the rhythm of rural Vietnam and enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace. Following lunch, we continue on to Nghia Lo. The rest of the afternoon is yours to unwind, take in the surrounding views, and recharge—preparing for the more challenging mountain routes that await in the days ahead.
We ride north toward Sa Pa via the legendary O Quy Ho Pass, one of Vietnam’s highest and most spectacular mountain roads. Along the way, sweeping cloud-filled valleys, lush plantations, and towering peaks unfold at every turn. Upon arrival in Sa Pa, enjoy free time to explore the town at your own pace—visit the iconic stone church or wander through its lively streets. The day ends with an overnight stay in a cozy local homestay, surrounded by cool mountain air and alpine scenery.
After breakfast, enjoy a free and restful day in Sa Pa, designed to give you time to unwind and recharge after several days on the road. With no fixed schedule, you are free to relax at your own pace, take in the cool mountain air, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this charming hill town.
For those who would like to explore, there are several optional activities available. You may take the cable car to Fansipan Peak for spectacular panoramic views with minimal physical effort, visit Cat Cat Village for a gentle walk and cultural experience, or head into Muong Hoa Valley to discover the beautiful villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van.
Whether you choose to spend the day resting, strolling through town, enjoying a spa treatment, or exploring the surrounding landscapes, today offers the perfect balance of comfort, flexibility, and discovery in the heart of Sa Pa.
We start the day by securing the necessary permits for travel through the border regions before riding deeper into the dramatic limestone plateau of northern Vietnam. The route leads us through Quan Ba, Yen Minh, and the atmospheric old town of Pho Bang, where time seems to slow among earthen houses and quiet streets.
Today delivers one of the most unforgettable rides of the journey as we tackle the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass. From this dramatic cliffside road, breathtaking views open up over the jade-green Nho Que River, winding through Vietnam’s deepest canyon far below.
The morning begins with a visit to a Lo Lo ethnic village, home to one of Northern Vietnam’s smallest and most distinctive ethnic communities. Here, we explore traditional stilt houses and admire the vibrant handmade costumes that reflect a deeply preserved cultural identity.

Test Despite of the fact that Vietnamese government attempts to outlaw the practice, the US Dollars still acts as an alternative currency which is almost completely interchangeable with Vietnam Dong. Many prices, especially for hotels, tours and expensive restaurants, are still quoted in USD, though you can pay in dong if you’d rather - just check what exchange rate they’re using.
For everyday expenses, we recommend you carry a mix of US Dollars cash and Vietnam Dong. For larger items or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it’s best to use Vietnam Dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that there is no need to worry about change.
