Bat Trang Pottery Village Overview

Bat Trang is an ancient pottery village with a history dating back 700 years, passed down from the Ly-Tran dynasties. It developed from Ninh Binh to the capital Thang Long, now Hanoi.

The village's development has brought economic benefits to the people of Bat Trang, and it is particularly renowned as one of the famous handicraft and cultural product villages, exporting to demanding markets such as the US, Japan, and Europe (UK, Germany, etc.).

Located 15km southeast of Hanoi's city center, it offers many interesting experiences for visitors.

Pottery making: Visitors can experience pottery making in Bat Trang, observing and learning about the pottery-making process, as well as how to select and prepare clay to create perfect, authentic Bat Trang products. Visitors can explore and create their own pottery from clay for a cost of only 10,000 to 20,000 VND per product.

Visit the Pottery Museum: The museum has a unique architecture resembling a potter's wheel and displays valuable traditional Bat Trang pottery items. It's a great way to learn about the cultural beliefs, history, and long-standing traditions of the Vietnamese people.

Enjoy the "royal tribute" delicacies – from ancient times, rare and unique items were offered to the emperors, a distinctive culinary tradition considered refined and only enjoyed by royalty.

Bamboo shoot and squid soup: This is one of the 18 "royal tribute" dishes of the past, combining mountain bamboo shoots and sea squid, symbolizing "welcoming good fortune and warding off evil," a distinctive feature of refined royal cuisine.
